The International Court today made public Britain's case in the Anglo-Iranian oil disputé to. gether with Persia's contention questioning the competence of the Court in the dispute.

The Court, which is to begin preliminary hearings on the dispute here in June, will first decide its own competence in dealing with the case initiated by the British Government following Persia's seizure of the £500,000,000 oil industry last year.

The Persian Government, contending that the issue "falls exclusively within the domestic jurisdiction of Persia," said, "It is not covered by the Statute of the Court itself and Article 2 of the United Nations Charter (The Hague Court is an organ of the United Nations) prohibits the intervention of the United Na- tions in the internal affairs of a member State.”

Persia maintains that the in-; dustry has

been "ex- not propriated," but "nationalised" as a final step in a policy of "material liberation."

the Persian Britain, in reply contention, maintains that the Court is competent to adjudicate under Article 36 of its Statute, This says that all parties to the Statute récognise the jurisdie- Tian of the Court

She further contends that The Hague Cour's compelenet dees not represent United Nations interference in the domestic effairs of a member State, If the British submission competence is upheld by the Persian Government will be in- Court, it is expected that the
