Rapid Progress Made

In Oil Production In British Commonwealth

Commonwealth oil production in 1951 showed an increase of almost 30 per cent over output in 1950, and the total of some 15 million tons for the year (about. one quarter of Commonwealth consumption) was more than treble the production of only five years ago.

Leading Commonwealth producer last year was Canada, whose contribution of 6,500,000 tons placed her for the first time ahead of British Borneo, which supplied Some 5,000,000 tons.

Thresa points are made in a memorandum on oil in the Commonwealth, issued by the Petroleum Information Bureau.

London, Apr. 22. The Burmah Oil Company in London today confirmed they have reports that agreed in principle with the Government of Pakistan on. the-establishment of an oil refinery near Karachi,n Pakistan. But the terms the and the conditions of agreement have still to be
