Cotton For British Mills

London, Jan. 5.

A scheme which, it is believed, would seriously affect the Lan- cashire cotton industry but save Britain dollars is to be put before the Treasury shortly.

Background to the plan is that the cotton industry, which imports about £40,000,000 worth of cotton annually from the United States, is costing too many dollars.

For the cotton, bought in hard American currency, after going through the mills, does not recoup dollars. It is sold mostly for Sterling.
