The New York Yankees defeated the New York Giants 3-1 today in the second game of the baseball world series to tie the best of seven games' contest. The Giants won the opening game 5-1 on Thursday.

The Yankees, winners of the American League, got away to a fast start and were never headed. They scored a run in each of the first two innings, one of them a homer, and one more in the eighth.
