Mr Winston Churchill tonight made the Anglo-Persian oil dispute a major issue in the British Government election campaign by accusing the Labour Government of "fleeing" from the oil Gelds.

The latest decision compares shamefully with earlier "strong" statements made by the British Government to the effect that Britain would never abandon the Persian oil reineries; that Britons in Abadan must "stand firm?” that all steps necessary would be taken to pro- tect the safety and interests of British workers in Persin. It now transpires that these rallying declarations were nothing but bluff. As Mr Churchill so witheringly expressed it yesterday: "Dr Mossadegh has penetrated the minds and measured accurately the will power of the men he had to deal with in Whitehall.
