Serious Shortage Of Copper Stocks In United States
New York, Aug. 20.
The nation's present need for more copper was understood when the Government disclosed that industry is already withdrawing metal from the strategic stockpile, supposedly a reserve for defence emergencies.
The announcement came just two days after the Independent International Union of nine mill and to striko again on smelter corporations decided August 27 against companies that account for at least 90 per cent of this country's copper produc- tion.
