Today, June 9th, is the 81st anniversary of the death of Charles Dickens, and as a fitting tribute to this Master of the English novel, Radio Hong- kong is broadcasting an entirely new production of one of his greatest works and of all the bookstra: Bavarian Wedding (Risner! that Dickens wrote, there is none better suited to dramatisation than "A Tale of Two Cities",

Dickens himself, ardent actor that he was, longed to play Sidney Carton in this story of the French Revolution, but It was not until long after his death that a stage version-"The Only Way"- brought fame as Carton to Sir John Martin- Harvey.

This dramatisation of the famous story is by. one of Britain's leading playwrights and an actor of the front rank-Terence Rattigan and John river (21) Gielgud. Originally broadcast in the BBC Home Service with Eric Portman taking the part of Car- ton and Belle Chrystall as Lucie Manette, "A Tale of Two Cities" will be heard over Radio Hongkong tonight at. 9.30.

At nine o'clock this evening Mr John Foster Duller, the American Presidential Envoy who is now in London, will be taling on a subject of general world, and in particular Far Eustern, interest: the question of a Peace Treaty with Japan. This talk will be relayed from the BBC.

If you have not so far been so fortunate as tu have found the Goose Who Laid the Golden Egg. then we suggest that you might care to listen to "Rangild" (or "The Goose Which Really Laid the Golden Egg") on Monday night at 9.11. p.m. Pro- duced by Peter Hards for the Garrison Players, this

whether Radio play leaves you to decide

Buch Goose, if she chanced your way, would be an asset or a liability.

Music lovers may like to take note of 9.45 p.m. on Thursday, when Radio Hongkong is broadcasting three scenes from Delius's singularly beautiful but rarely heard opera, "A Village Romeo and Juliet." A distinguished group of soloists is supported by the Royel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by that celebrated exponent of Deliua's music-Siz“ Thomas Beecham.

Today and Mondoy being the last two days, of play in the first Test Match between England and South Africa, commentaries on the match will be broadcast at 9.15 this evening, and at 10.15 p.m. on Monday.
