Wealthy Chinese Secretly Deported To Formosa

Manila, Apr. 26..

Vicente Uy Tek, wealthy Chinese businessman who was originally ordered deported in 1947 on a profiteering charge, was secretly placed aboard a Philippines Air Force plane yesterday and sent to Formosa.

The secret deportation was revealed late last night, almost 12 hours after Uy Tck had departed, by National Defence Secretary Ramon Magsaysay.

Mr Magsaysay said Presidentj Elpidio Quirino had approved a secret deportation board order 10 send Uy Tek to Formosa in pursuance of a policy designed to "break unscrupulous business practices which tend to under- mine the nation's cecnomic stability."
