International Softball Finals G PORTUGAL OUTCLASS THE OPPOSITION WITH A DOUBLE VICTORY

By "GRANDSTAND"

Portugal outclassed all other opposition on the diamond again by running away with a double victory yesterday în the finals of the current Softball International series when they subdued Great Britain 5-0 in the Men's division and accounted for Chino 10-5 in the Ladies' section.

Despite the dismal weather, the usual crowd of fans attended the tussles and they were not disappointed as Portuguese hurler Vic Pedruco fashioned a four-hitter behind an errorless performance on the field by his team-mates.

In the Ladies' game, Terry Noronha toed the rubber in spite of the fact that her arm injury had not completely healed, and although she did not have the usual speed in her deliveries, her steady job on the mound held down the opposition.

Portugal started off in aggres- sive style when they notched up four runs in the first frame on a single hit which was followed by a couple of hard-luck errors Sulky Guterres grounder to short-stop took a bad hop, and Dave Leonard, Huarding the could do nothing windy alley, eise but Cross the plate,

London, Mar. 26.

Easter Monday's League football programme -the third of the week-end for most teams-saw all teams at the head of the respective tables win- ning to leave the positions at the top unchanged compared with Saturday.

The bogey of relegation-is causing almost as much interest as the struggle for champion- ships and in this connection Chelsea took a further plunge towards the Second Division when they lost their third successive game of the week- end.

Spectators Get Something Extra Thrown In With Junior Soccer League Final

Says "SPIV"

Having won the first final playoff by two goals to one on Good Friday, Kitchee yesterday held South China to a goalless draw in their second meeting to win the Junior Division Soccer League Championship for the 1950-1951 season.

Yesterday's match was a most inglorious finish to the Junior League and was a repetition of the first. Rough tactics and overt attempts to play the man rather than the ball prevailed throughout the whole game, and no less than three names were taken by the referee during the course of the play.
