Softball Playoffs

By "GRANDSTAND”

Ever since the opening game of the current softball season, the im- mediate object of the contesting teams has been to qualify for the playoffs, and while several outfits have cracked up and fallen by the wayside, others are still in the thick of the fray as the circuit rounds into the home stretch.

The process of elimination, however, is not as easy as it seems, and a glance at the league tables reveals that over half the teams in each division stand more than a mathematical chance of winding up in one of the four coveted berths.

This state of affairs cannot possibly exist indefinitely, and fans will be closely watching the activities of the coming weeks which will see some highly interesting developments as the sheep are Borted from the goats.
