MALAYA BEATS HK IN VARSITY BADMINTON
The University of Malaya triumphed in the first of a series of Inter- Varsity sporting contests with the local University when they narrow- ly defcated their hosts four games to three in the Badminton series at the Eu Tong Son Gymnosjum last night.
Despite the reputed strength of the badminton
team of the visiting University of Malaya, it was not until the last game of the evening that the holder of the Badminton Trophy for the coming year was decided.
All the games were keenly contested and the last was a doubles match between Hong Siak- kwong and Chan Kam-chuon of the Univer- sity of Malaya and T. T. Chin and S. F. Lam. The final match went to three sets before the superior stamina, of the visitors won out and the final win made the total score four games to three in their favour.
Thus the University of Malayn became the firet hold- ers of the Aw Boon-how Cup Hong Kong University tock Two games to nil tend when they the Mixed Doubles
