Dominion Day to be kept under observation

On May 24, the Stewards held an inquiry at the tables

Into the circumstances under which the pony, Dominion Day, was withdrawn from the Third Rado at the last Meeting on May 13.

оп

On this occasion the pony fell down immediately going onto the course and the symptom gave rise to the suspicion that a stimulant had been adminislared to the pony.

The

Club's Veterinarian took the usual specimens for examination by the Govern. ment Analyst as to whether of a stimulent or any trace drug could be found but the reports were negative.

Although the evidence at the Inquiry disclosed a strong suspicion that a stimulant had been administered, the Ste- wards ware of the opinion that the evidence was' in- sufficient to prove such ad. ministration and accordingly no action was taken.

In view of the possibility that the symptoms shown by the pony at the time may have been the result of a pathological condition. tho Club'a Veterinarian will keep tle pony under very close observation during the sum-
