Mr. Eden, opening the House of Commons debate

on the Far East, said the Tories wanted it made "abundantly clear that there can be no ques- tion of making any concessions to the Com- munist Government of China in order that diplomatic relations can be established."

Britain anounced recognition of the Chinese Rods on January 6, and has since attempted un- successfully to establish diplomatic rolations with the Peking administration.

Import restrictions in China will be modified to facilitate trade between Hong Kong and the big cities on the mainland, according to yesterday's "Bino Tao. Man Po".

Hong Kong's financial settlement with His Ma- josty's Government has resulted in the slate being wiped clean up to March 31, 1950.
