Hoihow, April 21.

The Nationalist forces scored an overwhelming victory today when

all 5,000 Communist invaders on Hainan surrendered.

An equal number have been killed and several thousand more taken cap-

tive préviously.

Tonight a hugo and joyous celebration is under way in Hoihow.

Release of Caduceus demanded

Taipeh, April 21. Britain has so far lodged three protests with provincial authorities here over the de tention of the British freight- er, Caduceus, of 4,445 tons, and has demanded her release.

The protests, an informed source disclosed today, were made over the past weeks through the British Consul, Mr. Edward T. Biggs.

The Caduceus was placed under arrest at Kaohsiung, Taiwan, op February 16 just as she was about to sail for Hong Kong.

The Kwangtung Provincial authorities at Canton yesterday openly admitted that in Kwangtung alone there are some 919,- 000 famine victims,

Russia has demanded that the United States and Britain get their 10,000 troops out of Trioste and that the strategic Adriatic area be or- ganised as a free territory immediately. Charging the United States, Britain and France
