London, November 9.
Rumours were again current in some well informed quarters here this morning that South Africa may soon be able to announce a large sale of minted sovereigns at a high price in Ster- ling.

Experts were far from deriding these reports. A bullion expert described them as "very in- teresting" and added that the deal "could be" though he did not indicate that it had already been consummated. It was believed that an American oil company will have to pay much higher than the official gold price for these sovereigns since it needs them for oil royalties in Saudi Arabia.
One very high authority said that "there might well be a very great deal in the reports".
