CATC Mechanics Fly Off With Plane
A senior official of the Central Air Transpart Cor paration yesterday admitted that a CATC C-47 aircraft had suddenly departed from Kai Tak airport for an unknown destination on Thursday evening.
Believed to have headed for Canton, the CATC aircraft which was a converted passenger plane numbered XT-507, left the airport sometime between 7.30 and 8 p.m. with three of the airline's mechanics.
The three mechanics were Yang Shao-fan, Su Wen-huan and Shieh Chiao-chuen, all of whom had been employed by the airline for more than two years.
