'EXTRAVAGANCES' IN New York

THE STERLING AREA

Hong Kong Stock Exchange

The Market during the week has suffered from neglect, and what few buyers have been around have had things very much their own way and prices have again drifted down. Towards the close, however, things have slightly improved and a more conadent air has set in. Whether or not this will be maintained is in the lap of the gods, but there does seem to be a feeling of relief at the highly probable fall of Canton or that that city is on the point of being handed over".!!
