Anyone who is familiar with Britain's engineering products knows that they have a reputation for quality. Clyde-built ships, Rolls-Royco cars, Sheffield stool tools-these and many other British products are esteemed every- where in the world where technical excellence is appreciated.

It must be admitted, however, that in the past Bri- tain's good name has been earned by sound materials and fine workmanship rather than by the design of her goods.
