Washington; August 10. Britain has reached agreement with the United States Economic Co-operation Administration on the terms under which she will accept Mar- shall Plan loans, it was learned here today.
So far, Britain has been allocated a total of $185,- 000,000 in terms of loans under the Marshall Plan but has not touched any of it.
For these loans, Britain will
be charged an interest rate of approximately two and a half per cent. This is less than the three per cent imposed on the 106-7/10, | Icelandic Government by ECA 111-11/11 recently, but more 293-3/16
than the rate of less than two per cent 100% 1144
charged on Britain's original 07-12/13 postwar United States credit.
The loans will also carry an additional clause-which will en able Britain temporarily to suK-| pend repayment in years when her balance of payments problem in lon burdensome.
