Tories Move Rejection Of Reform Legislation
London, June 8.
ONLY ONE YEAR FOR TRADE ACT
Washington, June
Fear that a "ruthless doctrinaire minority" might gain power in Britain was expressed by Lord Salisbury, Opposition leader in the House of Lords, as a reason why he moved today the rejection of the Government's Bill to curb the Lords's powers. A vote will be taken tomorrow at the end of amittee voted by eight to five two-day debate.
Lord Salisbury maintained that the Bill, reducing the period in which the House of Lords could delay a House of Commons Bill from two years to one, would go for to establish a single Cham- ber Government and deprive the country of a vital constitutional safeguard of its llberties. Lord. Salisbury said that there was a section in the Labour Party which regarded the electorate ar a ladder on which to climb to pawer,
