COLONY'S MILK-PAIL
Bringing out 107 head of cattle from Canada to Hong Kong is not an easy un- dertaking. The consignment which arrived In Hong Kong by the "Island Mail" on April 17 for the Dairy Farm Company suffered no mishaps,
A mixed. assortment of highly-pedigreed Holsteina, Ayrshires, Jerscys and Guern- seys, they produced seven calves on the voyage (one dying). The arrival of more Australian cattle soon will well the Dairy Farm herd to about 1,100 by the end of the season. Cows are affected by hot weather, but given a moderate summer · and rain soon, the present daily yield of 10,000 lbs. should be increased to 12,000 Ibs by the end of the season.
