Strong criticism was levelled against the Chinese Representatives and Chinese members of the Taxation Committee for their failure to attend yesterday's mass Anti-tax meeting at the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, to which meeting they had been invited by the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Chinese Anti-Direct Tax Introduc- tion Committee.

A suggestion was put forward by the representa- tive of local Goldsmiths and Jewellers, that if Government's aim in imposing. income tax was to raise $16,000,000, this amount could be more easily and readily raised by públic sub- scription to a "Dollar Fund."
