CHINESE ANTI-TAX MEETING
Entire Community Supports Fight
New Petition To SEAFORTH MAJOR
Be Presented
Strong criticism was levelled against the Chinese Representatives and Chinese members of the Taxation Committee for their failure to attend yesterday's mass Anti-tax meeting at the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, to which meeting they had been invited by the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong and Kowloon Chinese Anti-Direct Tax Introduc- tion Committee.
A suggestion was put forward by the representa- tive of local Goldsmiths and Jewellers, that if Government's aim in imposing. income tax was to raise $16,000,000, this amount could be more easily and readily raised by públic sub- scription to a "Dollar Fund." The suggestion was deferred for further consideration by the Executive Committer at a later stage. Yesterday's meeting was at, fed to the Hon. Mr. T.N. Chua
