India On Brink Of Civil War

Bombay, Sept. 12. Mahomed Ali Jinnah, head of the Moslem League, said today that India stood on the brink of a ruinous civil war which could be averted only by prompt and sincere action and skilled diplomatic negotiations.

Jinnah told interviewers today that the recent bloody riots in Calcutta and Bombay were of "undoubtedly symptoms of the nearness civil war all over India and of the pattern that such civil war might follow."
