WAVELL USES
TACTICS AT
FRONTIER FIGHTING CEASES
Barring a few minor clashes in a few sectors hostilities have now ceas- ed, the Thai High Com- mand announced in Bangkok to-day.
The Thai truce commission which left for
Saigon yesterday afternoon numbers eight. Led by the chief of the air force, it in- cludes the Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, says the com- munique.
A review of the two months operations on the frontier reveals that Thai forces occupied two bits of territory on the right bank of the Mekong River, cession of which would probably have avoided the fighting, which start- ed with the French bombing of Nakonpanom.
Besides these territories That forcea penetrated into Cam- bodia in a 25 miles stretch from Surin right down to the Gulf of Thailand.
.Only 100 were killed and 300 wounded on the That side since the outbreak of the frontier fight- ing, says the communique, assert- ing this is insignificant compared with the French total which, however, is not indicated.
