CHUNG HWA SUFFERED their first League Softball defeat of the season on Sunday when they were downed by the V.R.C. 6-3 in a close game, fea- tured by sparkling fielding on both sides.
By virtue of their win, the Victorians are now on an equal footing with the League-leading Chung Hwas, and it appears to this corner that a play-off for the Limjap trophy is indicated in the near fut-
ure.

In the fifth Lionel Roza-Perel - and Manuel Roza both singled. but the latter was forced out by Bimby Ablong's weak grounde. although both Roza-Pereira art Ablogg scored on Ernie Ribeure base-cleaning triple to give V.RC the lead.

Alec Azedo was the big gun f the day, connecting safely twice in three times to the plate, whilst Ernie Ribeiro poled out the longest hit of the tilt with a two-run triple.
Roy Maxwell, V.R.C. guardian of the windy alley. gave the most sparkling fielding display, snaring several line-drives, each one of them а fielding gem.} whilst Chung Hwa slabster Jay Liu brilliantly shoe-atringed five Infield pops.

Playing inspired ball, V.R.C. garnered their second victory the day when they calcimined the Liga Portuguesa 8-0.
"Jock" Brown starting for the winners, fanned one and walked two, while relief hurler "Pitsy" Barradas fanned none and passed nane. Both hurlers allowed three safeties. Fork-handed chucker Cesar, Coelho for the losers went the route, and passed three.
-Batting-honours were taken by Jock Brown, for his two-in-three hitting, while Maxwell, Ablong and "Bubbles" Remedios pleted the only twin-killing of the day, by retiring Botelho and Coel- ho in the seventh.
