Soviet Moves In Shanghai; Archives Seized

THE INTERNATIONAL Settlement po- lice in Shanghai, with M. Budkeditch, Soviet Government representative, raided the Estonian Consulate yesterday and presented a court warrant for search and seizure of the archives.

CHINESE RETAKE GATEWAY TO YANGTSE

An Air Ministry and Ministry of Home Security communique issued at 8,45 last night states: "Only raids. on this country during the day have been made by a very small number of single aircraft.

Bombs were dropped .on one place in South-East Scot- land during the morning and .South- at a few places in East- England during the

afternoon.

In one town in Hampshire a few houses were damaged and there were some--causal- ties. Elsewhere little damage and few casualties were caused."-British Wireless.
