Open Secret Of American Assurance To Britain Japan And The Burma Road
JUDGING BY THE. Japanese Foreign Office spokesman, the London “Daily Tele- graph” says, it is apparently not intended either to protest to Britain or make the open« ing of the Burma road the signal for provok- ing an immediate crisis.
The "Telegraph” comments that one rea- son for this attitude is probably that the oc- cupation of Indo-China has deprived the road of some of its former significance.

First accused, whose husband died ten months ago, was in ex- treme poverty. She had three girls and one boy. She present ed the boy to second accused, who paid her $43 as a tokeri of ~~"good luck."
The case, said Inspector Moreton came to light when a letter regarding the transfer was received.
The boy had been well treat- ed and i wished to adopt him legally. The Inspector suggested they be bound over.
Accused were both placed on bond for one year.
un-
Second and probably more potent ground for Japan's demonstrative reception of the evidence news is unmistakable
of a marked stiffening in the attitude of the United States, especially since the signing the tripartite pact with the Axis powers.
