Germany's Gains And Losses

London, To-day. It must be several weeks before Germany's economic gains and losses resulting from the capitulation of France can be properly estim- ated.

Germany has gained some stocks of oil in northern France, although part of these stocks were destroyed in the first five weeks of the great battle. There is no doubt, however, that a into good deal of petrol has fallen German hands.

Famine Threat

All the available evidence supports the view that famine will overtake Germany and the occupied territories within the next few months. The Czechoslovakian harvest is very bad and there has been considerable slaughtering of live-stock in all the occupied territories.
