Threat To Switzerland Becomes More Evident

THE GERMAN THREAT AGAINST SWITZERLAND

MEASURES

IS BECOMING MORE EVIDENT AND IT IS TO BEAT

ESTIMATED THAT 25 NAZI DIVISIONS ARE NOW CONCENTRATED IN THE BLACK FOREST, AUTHORITATIVE SOURCES ASSERT. Furthermore troops movements have been observed in Austria, where German units are being concentrated in Vorarlberg province, opposite Switzerland's north- eastern border.

A German attack would not take Switzerland unawares but would put her in a difficult situation.

The Swiss army amounts to 500,000 well-trained and well-equipped men but part of this army has to be kept on the southern frontier to check any Italian move.

Furthermore the Swles fear the Germans would try to use the methods they employed In Nor-

way.

Italian-German co-operation in an attack against Switzerland would not constitute a surprise but the French would help and the canton of Valais would become a battlefield where the Italians would have to concentrate large forces.

Sir,-May I' appeal to all managers and owners of business firms, factories, hotels, flats, and buildings of similar nature, to put their house in order, so that should an em- ergency ever arise in the Colony, they will be in a position to put their A.R.P. plan of operation into effect with smoothness and efficiency.

The action that I would suggest should be taken immediately is-

(a) To appoint a small committee with, if applicable, representatives from each firm occupying the building.

NATHAN RD. MISHAP

Mr. J. S. Dinnen, of the P.W.D., while driving in Nathan Road yesterday, knocked down a four-year-old girl, Li Shek-tin, who was running across the road. The girl was treated at the Kowloon Hospital for slight injuries.
