QUEEN WILHELMINA DEFEAT

IN ENGLAND Chungking, To-day.

Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands arrived in London yesterday and was met at the station by King George.

The Queen's arrival in England follows that of Prince Juliana and her daughters, Princess Beatrix and Princess Irene, and her consort, Prince Bernhard.

Queen Wilhelmina arrived in a spe- cial train of only three coaches, es-' corted by officers and soldiers of the Dutch Royal Guard, and British sold- iers in battle dress and steel helmets.

She looked sad and forlorn as she stepped from the train. The. King shook hands with her and klased her on both cheeks.

She smiled wanly when she Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard who both kissed her.

The Dutch soldiers stood to atten- tion as Queen Wilhelmina stepped on to the platform, and the British sold- iers presented arms.

The Dutch Minister in London and the Dutch Foreign and Colonial Min- isters were also present.

The crowd cheered as the King and Queen Wilhelmina drove in the royal car to Buckingham Palace.

BRITISH STEPS TO DEAL WITH PARACHUTISTS

Crushingly defeated, the Japanese forces in south Ho- nan are now in full retreat toward Sinyang. All impor- tant towns west of the rail- way line, including Tungpeh, Miyang and Tangho, have re- turned to Chinese control.

A Japanese unit retreating from Tungpeh was yesterday overtaken and annihilated. Another unit retreating on the Miyang-Kioshan highway was intercepted at Maotsi and Kuhsien, suffering severe losses.

After recapturing Mingkiang, 24 miles north of Sinyang, the Chinese are sweeping along the Peiping- Hankow line.

South of Sinyang, the Chinese have reoccupied Liulin, Paikomiao and Lichiatsi and caused heavy damage to the railroad.

Areas around, Shangkow, northeast of of Fancheng, have been cleared Japanese troops. East of Tsaoyang, the Chinese have retaken Ching- mingpu.--Central News.
