GERMANS GIVE THEIR ACCOUNT OF OPERATIONS

Berlin, To-day.

A GERMAN NEWS AGENCY statement says: "At dawn yesterday the German air force started an attack in the west with strong units and landed numerous units on Dutch and Belgian aero- dromes.

"The aerodromes and their surroundings fell into

German hands in a short time.

"Aerodromes in east and central France were at- tacked by surprise by German bombers which destroyed the aerodromes and aeroplanes and caused considerable fires.

"The aerodromes at St. Omer, Vitry- Le-Francois and Metz were destroyed. "German air attacks were extended to Dutch and Belgian military objec- tives as the Belgian Government had called British and French troops into the country and the Dutch Government | had declared a state of war between

Holland and Germany,

"During these attacks the aerodromes at Antwerp and Brussels were success- fully bombed..

"Units of the German air force sup- ported the advance of the army and were responsible for the occupation of one of the strongest Belgian forts." -Reuter.

High Command Communique

Berlin, To-day.

A High Command communique an- nounced yesterday afternoon: "Ger- man troops crossed the Dutch, Luxemburg and Belgian frontiers at 5.30 a.m. Enemy resistance was broken everywhere. energetically, often in close co-operation with the air force.·.

"A U-boat, sank a British submar ine off Terschelling. A German speed- boat sank an enemy destroyer by tor- pedo action during operations in the North Sea." Reuter.

GERMANS BOMB A HOSPITAL

Paris, To-day. German planes bombed and destroyed a military hospital at Antwerp.

Anti-aircraft guns are active and dogfights are taking place. over the city.

Several bombs were dropped in Brussels damaging various build- inge.

The Evere airport, located three miles from the capital, Was severely bombed.-Havas.

"These resources we now put at the disposal of our common cause the destruction of the German spirit of wanton 'aggression.

"I can assure you Holland will continue to fight until together we have won." Reuter.
