ANGLO- RUSSIAN PARLEYS

(SPECIAL TO "CHINA MAIL") London, To-day. Considerable importance is attached by the press to the conversations between the Foreign Secretary, Lord Hali- fax, and M. Maisky, Soviet Ambassador to Great Britain, and the possible resumption in the near future of Russo- British trade parleys.

In a comment, which summarises the the attitude of most of the papers, Sunday Times' Diplomatic Correspon- dent writes, "while Britain is ready to discuss trade relations with the So- viet an agreement cannot be contem- plated which would leave'a substan- tial amount of supplies to reach Ger- many through Russia.
