DECREE NISI GRANTED TO STAGE STAR

London, Mar. 12. Mr. Albert "Sandy" Powell, stage and radio comedian, was granted a decree nisi yesterday on the ground of his wife's misconduct with Mr. Benjamin

Morris.

It was stated that the wife drank excessively ad created scenes at theatres where her husband was per- forming.

Mr. Justice Bucknill said: "When sober, the petitioner's wife, is a very charming and attractive lady. Drink is her enemy.”

Sandy Powell, broad-faced Lan- cashire comedian is one of the most popular vaudeville artists in England. He is famous for his Road Show, a travelling variety entertainment with which he tours England every year.

He first built up his reputation in an act that included the catch line "Can you hear me, Mother?" which he has worked into his shows ever since.

Whenever he is doing a show he rings his mother, who lives in a small town in Lancashire; at the interval. He says she brings him luck.

SPY SUSPECTS ON SHIP

Revolver shots were fired when sus- pected, spies were taken off a British liner 200 miles off Lisbon by a board- ing party from an Allies warship.

The warship stopped the liner High- land Princess, sent over a boarding woman, says the Associated Press. party, and questioned a man an

The couple were ordered to go aboard the warship, but some volver shots were fired by the man before he was transferred.

They were reported to be travelling to South America on forged passports.

SCHOOLS' SPORTS

Despite miserable weather condi- tions, no fewer than three schools' athletic meetings were held on Thurs- day. These schools were Ellis Kado- orie, Diocesan Girls' and King's Col-.

lege.

CHILDREN WHO WON'T EAT

There's nothing so wearing for a mother as a child who won't eat well. Usually such a child is the "nervy" highly-strung type. He picks at his food, looks pale and loses weight.

Coaxing won't improve matters. Child specialists everywhere re- commend Horlicks for these "nervy" children with faded ap- petites.

The reason is that Horlicks not only builds bone and muscle, but it stimulates their appetites for the foods they need. In a remarkably short time they get strong, healthy, full-of-life-and- "go." And children love the tasto of Horlicks. Get Horlicks to-day.
