PLYMOUTH FETES CREW OF "EXETER"

The original Drake's Drum stood in the centre of the Plymouth Guildhall during the luncheon to 350 officers and men of H.M.S. Exeter yesterday.
Lord Astor, proposing the health of the ship's officers and company, said: "It is a strange thing, this spirit of the Navy.
"It is invisible, imponderable and intangible, and now we know its au- dacity is incredible.

THE LATEST REPORTS from the Front indicate that the Finns have counter-attacked and retaken some advanced outposts in the centre of the Karelian front.
The Soviets are here attacking at three main points with an overwhelming array of men, tanks and guns. These are at Summa, to the west, where they have already reached the front line; Tai- pali, in the east; and Kyyrola, in the centre, where they are pressing towards the railway lead- ing to Viborg.
In the Summa sector, Russian tanks have been advancing in solid blocks, 10 abreast and 7 deep!
There are no offelal Agures of the Finnish losses, but the front pages of the Finnish newspapers are filled with the names of those who have died, Reuter.
