POST OFFICE

Small Packet Post to all countries is suspended.

NEW YEAR HOLIDAY

On Monday, the 1st January 1940, the General Post Office and Kowloon Central Post Office will be open from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 a.m., Sheungwan Branch Post Office will be open from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m., and the other Branch Post Offices will be entirely closed.

There will be one collection from the pillar-boxes as on Sundays and one delivery of registered and ordinary correspondence at 10.00 a.m.

The Branch Post Offices at Stanley, Tai Po and Un Long will also have one delivery of ordinary correspondence at 11.00 a.m.

The Money Order Office will be entirely closed.

BROADCAST RECEIVING LICENCES

Holders of Ucences are reminded that if it is desired to continue to re- lain possession of the apparatus after the date of expiration of the licence a renewal must be effected without delay.

New Licences will be available at the Government Radio Office, G.P.O. Building, First Floor, on ordinary business days, and will be issued against the receipt of a remittance of $12.00, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. except on Saturdays when licences will be issued between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Applications may be made:-

(c) by post.

(a) personally; (b) by messenger;

It is essential under (c) and preferable under (a) and (b) that applica- tions should be accompanied by crossed cheque payable to Hongkong Gov- ernment. The new licence will then be sent by post or messenger as soon as it is ready. Where actual cash is tendered a new licence should be re- ceived in exchange before leaving the Licensing Office.

In the case of renewal the old licence should be returned with the appli-

cation.
