THE CHINA MAIL, DECEMBER 28, 1939

IT'S AN ELEPHANT THAT NEVER FORGETS

Berlin, To-day.

Dr. Joseph Goebbels has now explained why the Bri- tish aircraft carrier Ark Royal is still afloat.

In a broadcast on Tuesday night, the German shortwave station an- nounced that Germany had never claimed to have sunk the Ark Royal! She merely asked where the air- craft carrier was!

The Nazis, said the announcer, never give out information which is not true. They therefore could not have claimed to have sunk the Ark Royal.

Unfortunately for Dr. Goebbels, listeners all over the world have heard the contrary.

In one typical broadcast from Zecsen, it was said: "It is clearly established that the Ark Royal was destroyed,"

This same broadcast described the Ark Royal as "like a gigantic torch lighting up the sea," and said that when dawn broke the next day, the Ark Royal had disappeared, leavin only a huge pall of smoke to mark the spot where she had once been.

WHEN YOU ARE FEEDING BABY

It's after the birth of a aby that the mother needs areful attention most. Her strength has been severely Jazed and when she is feeding The baby she needs extra and easily digested food.

Doctors throughout China have recommended Horlicks for years as the ideal food for both expectant and nurs- ing mothers. It is invaluable when the digestive powers are weak. It stimulates faded appetites, and promotes sound lep and tends to prevent constipation.
