New York, Nov. 14 Thomas Henehan, twenty-six, didn't want his mother-in-law come to live with his bride and himself in his small cottage in the su burbs of New York.

Deciding that an argument with his wife would not settle the ques- tion, Thomas tried direct action.

When his wife went out he closed the windows, started a wood fire in the kitchen stove and turned on several gas burners.

Then he went for a stroll.

A few minutes later a terrific explosion rocked the neighbour- hood. Thomas returned to find a mass of debris where his house had been.

Now mother-in-law cannot visit Thomas, but Thomas, being home less, is afraid he may be forced to go to live with mother-in-law.

Miss Souza, in evidence, said she worked for plaintiff from 1937 to May, 1939. On April 29 business was slack and she sustained a fall with the result that she could not come to work for some time. Some time later she wrote a seven-page letter to plaintiff, but only one page was pro- duced in court, in which she stated that she was surprised that she had been accused by him as being the leader of a strike among the girls and that he had let her down after the favour she had done him and Miss Lola Koo. She had heard that he in- tended to "chuck her out" if she re- turned and in consequence she ten- dered her resignation.

HAD BORROWED PREVIOUSLY

She had borrowed money on several occasions and had each time_repaid the amounts. The entries in plain- tiff's book were incorrect.

Leung chi, pleading guilty, stated he had no cover for himself at night when sleeping in the street, so he took the bags.

The Magistrate placed him on a $10 bond for one year and ordered the prosecuting officer to give Leung $1 from the Poor Box to buy a cover- ing.
