SENTENCED CONSTABLE ASKS FAVOUR

Tsou Teh-yuan, a Chinese con- stable, was sentenced to two months* hard labour by Mr. R. A. D. Forrest this morning, when found guilty extortion of one cent from a hawker. Mr. M. A. da Silva was for the defence, while Det. Sergeant McPher- son conducted the prosecution.
Defendant asked to be placed in a separate cell in prison, fearing. that he might be beaten by other prisoners, Permission was granted.

No explanation is yet forthcoming as to why cargo on a neutral ship should be examined in a neu- tral port by a neutral government for contra- band.

Berlin, To-day. Germany intends to institute prize court proceedings against the City of Flint, it is indicated in an official state ment which claims that the vessel is "rightfully and legally detained."--
