:BERLIN PEACE RUMOUR

FALSITY CAUSES

BITTER DISAPPOINTMENT

THE BERLIN CORRESPONDENT of the "Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant“ gives further details of the reaction by the peace rumour in Germany. The rumour, he says, led to an extraordinary out- burst of rejoicing, and was believed even by the more cautious people.

Even the official denial was not credited at first, and it was thought that the news of peace was to be issued later.

Bitter disappointment

Reputed to be one of the most gifted artists in China, Mr. Chen Sheng- yuan, native of Chekiang arrived in the Colony a few days ago.

He is accompanied by Mr. Sse Ming, who is assisting him in exhibiting his works.

Mr. Chen started painting at the age of nine.

He is holding an exhibition of some 90 drawings at St. Francis Hotel for three days.
