HITLER AND IL DUCE IN CLOSE TOUCH

Berlin, To-day. The British Ambassador, Sir Nevile Henderson, left the Chancellory at 7.45 p.m. (Berlin time).

In course of the thirty-minute con- ference, the German Chancellor ex- plained in detail the several points in his answer to the British Government. At 7.50 p.m., the Fuehrer received the Italian Ambassador, Signor Bern- ardo Attolico, for a conference lasting 15 minutes.

It is learned that Germany and Italy are in close consultation. Musso- Jini was informed of the contents of the British Note as soon as it was re- ceived, and when Signor Attilico met the Fuehrer last night, he was given a copy of the German observations.

The following official communique was issued last night concerning the conference between the German Chancellor and the British Ambassa- dor:

"The Fuehrer received the British Ambassador, Sir Nevile Henderson, this evening in the presence of the Reich Foreign Minister, Herr von Ribbentrop.

London, To-day.

It is learned in Whitehall that Hitler's reply was .received at the Foreign Office late last night and is now being examined by Mr. Chamberlain and Lord Halifax.

No further statement can expected at present.-Reuter.
