Chungking, To-day.
A ROUSING OVATION was given to Pandit Jawaharhal' Nehru, leader of the Indian Nationalist Movement, when he arrived by Eurasia plane from Yunnan yester-- day afternoon.
A gathering of more than 500 representatives of various government and private organisations was present at the aerodrome to welcome Nehru, the first Indian na- tional leader to have arrived in China.
Prominent among them were Dr.} Chu Chia-hua, Secretary-General of the Central Kuomintang Headquar-

Shih, Garrison Commander of Chungking, Mr. Tuan Mu-lan, of, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, etc.
Smilingly alighting, Nehru was pre- sented with a bouquet by student re- presentatives and a letter of welcome by General Chen Ming-shu on behalf of the populace of Chungking.
General Chen extended whole- hearted welcome to the Indian leader thanking him for the sympathy and assistance which he had extended to China,
Replying, Nehru expressed thanks for the enthusiastic welcome and re- affirmed the sympathy of the Indian nation for China's cause.
U.S. SUBMARINE SEAWOLF
Portemouth, N.H., Aug. 15.
The submarine Seawolf, which is of the same type as the ill- fated Squalus, now being refloat- ed following its foundering on May 23 with 59 men aboard, was launched to-day.
The Seawolf is 300 feet long. 26 feet across, and displaces 1,450 tons.
Internal fittings will be com- pleted next April.-Havas.
