As the Bill will be very far-reach- POLISH

ing, the possibilities of an extended debate of the details, such as liberty of the subject, could be considerable.

However, following the visit to Sir Samuel Hoare, the Home Se- cretary, who will be in charge of the Bill, last night, by a députa- tion of the Trades Union Congress, who were apprehensive of these points, smooth passage of the Bill in this respect will be assured,

There is therefore no reasonable doubt that the Bill will be passed by the House of Commons in time to enable the Lords to pass it, and it will receive the Royal Assent in the evening.

Parliamentary sittings after to-day will depend on the situation as it develops from day to day.-Reuter.

Reaction to developments may be gauged by the quotations on the Shang- hai stook and exchange market. The value of gold, which had been the upward trend, sharply fell by $385 yesterday, wherens the value of various national bonds and the rate of exchange of the Chinese dollar rose appreciably.

The "Shun Pao" declares that Japan has been isolated by Germany's hand- shaking with Soviet Russia. She has not yet awakened from her dream while her Axis partner has already folded up the Anti-Comintern banner. The Chinese-American "Daily News" says that Japan has been sold out by her ally. The paper expresses the belief that Soviet Russia, freed from the menace in Europe, will extend greater help to China.-Central News.
