'DANZIG PROBLEMS
BRITAIN SHARPLY REJECTS HINT OF ANOTHER MUNICH
London, To-day.
ACCORDING TO TO-NIGHT'S AGENCY reports from Dan- zig, it is expected that the Polish Commissioner, who had a quarter of an hour's talk with the President of the Senate yesterday and later flew to Warsaw to con- fer with his Government, will have another talk with Herr Greiser on his return to Danzig, probably in the presence of the League High Commissioner, Dr. Burck- hardt. In diplomatic circles in London, the hope is expressed that the short conversation which took place between Herr Greiser and Monsieur Chodacki, may mark the open- ing of conversations on certain local issues between the Free City and Poland, such as the customs questions, the settlement of which on a commonsense basis would go a considerable way to believe the tension. day to day problems can benefit no GLENORCHY
one. The fewer questions of second-
ary importance which are left out- LAUNCH AT
standing between the Free City and Poland, the fewer are the chances of incidents such as might place events beyond the control of responsible
nien.
It is felt here that there is now general understanding that any at-
tempt-which could come only from the German side-to alter position at Danzig by force, means war in which
Britain and France would immediate-
ly be involved in support of Poland.

Hence the Importance attached here, in press comment on the re- cent contacts over Danzig, to the need of keeping from getting rusty the ordinary machinery of discussion between the. Danzig Senate and the Polish Govern- ment.
If that machinery were working smoothly again, it would be held as substantial gain in London, where there is little disposition, at the mo- ment, in official quarters, to look be- yond the immediate phase.

It can be safely predicted that the latter is an idee which would not commend itself to British opinion.
