ACCORDING TO TO-NIGHT'S AGENCY reports from Dan- zig, it is expected that the Polish Commissioner, who had a quarter of an hour's talk with the President of the Senate yesterday and later flew to Warsaw to con- fer with his Government, will have another talk with Herr Greiser on his return to Danzig, probably in the presence of the League High Commissioner, Dr. Burck- hardt. In diplomatic circles in London, the hope is expressed that the short conversation which took place between Herr Greiser and Monsieur Chodacki, may mark the open- ing of conversations on certain local issues between the Free City and Poland, such as the customs questions, the settlement of which on a commonsense basis would go a considerable way to believe the tension. Mr. Leeper, a 51-year old Austra- lian, entered the Foreign Office in 1918, after a year with the British Intelligence, and has held offices in the British Legations of most of the capitals of Eastern Europe.--Reuter.
