"Bowlers" Defeat
Aspirants"
A surprise was caused in the semi- finals of the Ewo Indoor Bowling Lengte on Wednesday when "The Bowlers" defeated "The Aspirants" by the narrow margin of ten pins.
As can be seen from the scores, the contest was a close one. The result was a complete surprise inasmuch as the it was generally expected that "Aspirants," who were finalists in the last tournament, would win.

As a result of their victory, "Bowlers" will now meet the "Champs" in the final.

SEVERAL important decisions were
made at the Annual General Meet- ing of the Army Cricket Committee, the most important of which was that
a team Captain be appointed for both the Army "A" and "B" teams. This year, I believe they are to be known as the First and Second Elevens in-- stead of "A" and "B" as hitherto. Captain Godby, of the Royal Artillery, was elected Captain of the First eleven and Captain Lawrence, of the Indian Army Service Corps, will Captain of the Second eleven.

PRESUMABLY these officers will be
responsible for the selection of the teams. In the past team selection has not been an easy task owing to various reasons, but it has always been felt that Army representative teams were not the best that could be picked, main- ly owing to players not being put for ward for places by their units. How- ever, it looks as though the Committee have taken a step in the right direc tion and it is to be hoped that the Army will furnish stiffer opposition this season.

ANOTHER matter that was cleared
up was the provision of equipment for representative Army sides. Both teams are to have complete sets of equipment in future and will not be dependent on individuals to bring their own gear.
It was decided to continue both the Large and Small Units Knock-out Competitions, but a big handicap in the past had been the lack of grounds, and it was hoped that an improvement in this direction might be made this
Beagon.

Conductor Holden, R.A.0.C. will be the Army Umpire, and Pte. Holden of the R.A.S.C. was appointed scorer. I suppose their duties will lie mainly with the First Eleven.
Another long felt want was also discussed. That is the difficulty of obtaining any net practice and Ma- jor Petri, the Hon. Secretary, prom- ised to take suitable action in this
IDDLESEX Regiment held their annual swimming sports at Vic-matter. I think this is the most pro-
toria Recreation Club yesterday.
Winners of the inter-company aggregate trophy were Head- quarters Wing with a total of 48 points, their nearest rivals being “A” Company with 37.

As judged by local standards, the swimming was not of a very high order but Cpl. Holdsworth, of Headquarters Wing gave a very polished display of diving.
At the conclusion of the events, the
prizes were distributed in the main hall of the V.R.C. by Mrs. L. A. Newnham, wife of the Commanding Officer.

K.C.C. TENNIS
Three matches were played in Kow- loon Cricket Club's annual tennis tourn ament yesterday with the following re- sults: Senior Championship-9. A. Gray beat G. C. Burnett 7-5, 6-8,8-0,
B1.
Handicap "A"N. A. E. Mackay (—15) beat A. Crawford (-40) 6-3,
Mixed Double-B C. Fincher and
over a hundred points to the good.
McLow, of the Polico, gave the best performance of the evening to beat rather easily the Signals steadiest player, Pitcher.
A newcomer to the Signala team, MacGuire, scored a convincing win over Teggarty, the Police stalwart, and Morgan scored his usual win for the Signals. Morgan has only lost two` games this season, the first he played, and once Binco. This is quite a markable record as it is only to be ex-.. pected that the bost of players should have an off day sometimes.
