There is no suggestion in the state ment issued to the press after the meeting by the Association that South China were being called to task for anything apart from the fact that they did not play ball in the closing stages when it became apparent they would win.

Presumably then, it can be assumed that the authorities are satisfied that general opinion, which was that South their China were loathe to deprive compatriots of a chance of winning the championship, is correct.

Best method of dealing with case must have given members of the committee a headache and I feel that they have under the circumstances settled the matter satisfactorily if in a somewhat eccentric fashion.

LIKE that little touch in the official statement which indicates Br luctance that action had to be taken and appeals to South China in a very frank manner to observe the spirit as well as the letter of the law in future games. No very drastic action-South China do not really "suffer" by being awarded points-but, I think, the case. met.

The South China team is composed of men who are prominent in more than one branch of sport and I am sure that they will not take the official As sports- censure in a potty spirit. men they must realise that some dis- .and ciplinary measure was essential I sincerely hope that they will, in their next fixture, indicate by their conduct on the field, that they bear no grudges.
