Canada-bade the King and Queen farewell on her side of the gigantic Niagara Falls last night, as over the water the United States waited in a mood of tense suspense to receive the first reigning British monarch to set foot on United States soil accompanied by his Queen.

Nearly 500,000 "neighbours" of the two great De- mocracies of the Western Hemisphere had ga- thered throughout the day to witness the his- toric border over which Mr. Cordell Hull (the American Secretary of State) on arrival from Washington to greet Their Majesties with a handshake, spoke of his "pleasing mission of an informal nature.'
