It is understood that the Bri- tish authorities are shortly lodg ing a protest with the Japanese Consul-General in connexion with the death of Mr. R. M. Tinkler.
The final form of the protest probably will not be decided until after the inquest.
There is much comment on the fact that Mr. Tinkler was kept for 15 hours by the Japanese on Poo- tung before bringing him across to hospital. Reuter.
