RAIN BRINGS COOLER WEATHER
Rain started to fall during the night after a sunny day yesterday in which a maximum temperature of 83 was recorded. Temperature fell during the night to 75, and this morning was 77, with humidity 94 per cent.
The Royal Observatory reports that a weak anticyclone covers the Pacific to the south and south-east of Japan, and a ridge of high pres- sure extends from it to south-east China. Pressure remains relatively low over the northern part of the China Sea.
A tramcar proceeding in an eas- terly direction along Queen's Road at about 10 o'clock this morning collided with a gun being towed by a military lorry.
The lorry, with the gun behind, was coming out of the Naval Yard when the collision occurred.
Although the front of the tram was smashed, the driver miraculous- ly was only slightly injured.
INTIMIDATION OF STUDENTS
Tai Kau, 19, scavenging coolie, was charged before Mr. R. A. D. Forrest at the Central Magistracy this morning with intimidation and larceny.
It was alleged that defendant intimidated six students and took money from them. Defendant denied the charges.
